Energy Audits
We Provide Three Distinct Levels Based Upon Your Needs

Level I:   Diagnositc Energy Survey
Level II:  Energy Efficiency Assessment
Level III: Comprehensive Energy Audit

Residential Energy Modeling and Energy Rating Software
Level III: Comprehensive Energy Audit -   This is the highest level in the auditing process and provides the most detailed information and data analysis possible.  A comprehensive Energy Audit includes the same inspection and testing as the Energy Assessment with additional measurements taken to determine total glazing area, glazing orientation and shading.   With the comprehensive audit your structure will be modeled using advanced energy modeling software.  The improvement recommendations will also be modeled to show specific energy savings and emission reductions associated with each improvement.  This provides "higher resolution" of the structure and proposed improvements to estimate projected savings.  This is particularly useful when major improvements or significant remodeling is to be accomplished.  Once the structure is modeled changes to the model's improvement packages can easily be made to determine new savings associated with the change. This will allow you to make better return-on-investment decisions on different types of heating / cooling systems, windows, and types of insulation.  The report generated will include the specific reports from the energy modeling software comparing the energy consumption and associated emissions for the structure "as-is" and with improvements.  Additional reports will be generated that projects specific size requirements for heating / cooling systems with and without improvements.

Level II: Energy Efficiency Assessment - Includes a thermal imaging inspection plus we use a calibrated blower door and duct blaster (If applicable) to quantify the air leakage rates within your home and ductwork.  While the house is depressurized with the blower door we conduct additional thermal imaging to pinpoint your air leaks which will then be magnified and easily detected during depressurization.   We inspect the heating, air conditioning, and hot water systems to defined their efficiencies and recommend improvements.  A thermal boundary inspection is conducted which includes evaluations of windows, doors and insulation levels in you home or office. The Energy Efficiency Assessment Report will quantify the excess air leakage both in leakage rates and in actual gallons of oil/propane, or kilowatts of energy, whichever your home or office uses for heat.   Efficiency weak points in your homes thermal boundary, heating, cooling, and hot water systems are noted in the report along with recommendations for improvement and potential energy savings.

Level I: Diagnostic Energy Survey -   This is a low cost package where we will conduct the same air infiltration testing, insulation, heating system, and window / door inspections and thermal imaging as with the premium packages.  The major difference is that these will be "on-site" assessments and our higher level audit report is not included.  A written report will be provided at the time of the audit using predefined forms that cover assessments of the thermal boundary, air barrier, systems, windows and doors and many other energy saving items. You will be able to see thermal images of deficiencies and air leakage sites when taken.  This is a great low cost package, that can easily be upgraded to a more premium package.   This also is an excellent package if you already have a good understanding of residential energy efficiency or you think your structure is fairly efficient but you desire the diagnostic testing to uncover any hidden energy wasting flaws that can only be discovered with our testing and inspection equipment.  A thermal imaging report can still be ordered at the time of service or at a later date if desired.
